LIMA -- At least seven people died on Sunday and 11 more were injured when a public transport van carrying 18 people fell into a ravine in the northwestern Peruvian province of Pataz, local authorities reported.

Nuri Adith Martinez, the subprefect of Pataz, explained that the accident occurred early on Sunday in an area about 779 kilometers north of the Peruvian capital. (Peru-Accident)

HOUSTON -- Five people were killed and another was injured on Sunday in a road accident in the U.S. state of Texas, local police said.

According to police, the violent crash happened around 3:56 a.m. Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 59 about 100 kilometers southwest of Houston, Texas. Police said a black Cadillac SUV traveling southbound entered the northbound lanes where it collided head-on with an oncoming Nissan. (US-Accident)

LOS ANGELES -- Governor of U.S. state of Colorado Jared Polis announced that he and his partner, Marlon Reis, had both tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the fifth governor in the country infected by the fatal disease.

According to a statement issued by the governor's office Saturday night, they were asymptomatic and the governor would have to work remotely for the time being. Polis had been quarantined from Wednesday after being exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, but tested negative at that time. (US-Colorado-COVID-19)

AMMAN -- King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday stressed the need to step up international efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.
