Los Angeles Galaxy forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez was officially added to the roster Wednesday after receiving his work visa.
The high-profile offseason acquisition could make his debut for the five-time MLS Cup champions as soon as Saturday in a preseason match against Toronto FC in Carson, Calif.
The Galaxy acquired the 31-year-old Mexican star from Spanish side Sevilla last month and signed him to a three-year deal on Jan. 21.
Hernandez previously played for European soccer powers Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid. He is Mexico's all-time leading international scorer with 52 goals in 109 appearances and has competed in three World Cups.
The Galaxy open the regular season on the road against the Houston Dynamo on Feb. 29.
