Diageo sacks Scottish workers
Houston News.Net Thursday 2nd July, 2009
UK beverage company Diageo has announced it will cut about 900 jobs in Scotland.
The Port Dundas distillery in Glasgow and a packaging plant in Kilmarnock will see most of the cuts over a two year period.
Diageo which has its headquarters in Edinburgh, has stated job losses will be offset by the creation of about 400 new jobs through the expansion of a packaging plant in Fife and a barrel making centre in Clackmannanshire.
Diageo’s brands include Guinness, Smirnoff Vodka and Johnnie Walker whisky.
